![]() I’m just going to avoid taking the literal scene at face value and assume that Shirou does end up going through similar path as Archer, but Rin’s still there to support him and prevent him from making any fatal mistakes, like forming a contract with Alaya. What happened to Tohsaka? Word of God already makes it clear that UBW Shirou won’t become Archer EMIYA, but it feels like he’s going to have a rough life regardless, especially if the one hope Archer left off with (Rin) is gone from the picture. It’s a pretty epic shot to end off with, but I don’t feel like I particularly enjoy the overall implications. …but one difference is that the anime ends off with a shot of Shirou wandering the wastelands alone in EXTRA Archer’s desert outfit. They already (brilliantly) incorporated some of EMIYA’s “Answer” in his actual battle against young Shirou, but in terms of the anime, the remaining portion of his “personal conclusion” still wraps UBW’s end nicely as a narrative. lolįun fact: You might not tell from the way he looks, but Iskander left such a big impression on him that apparently he’s now a giant vidya otaku.ĮMIYA’s closing words are what made the VN UBW end pretty strongly for me, personally. Then again, most people probably would have found that out already before this slow-ass post. This might have flew over Zero fanboy heads, but Lord El-Melloi II (who appears in Prisma too, fyi) is actually Waver in his thirties. You’ll know what I mean when Heaven’s Feel gets animated… Yeah, eat that apple, you piece of shit niisan. I know Sakura’s probably being a cheeky sister to Shinji here, but knowing what their abusive relationship is like in Heaven’s Feel gives me the impression that there’s some creepy context behind that smile, to be honest. It was a neat touch having Shirou and Rin visit King Arthur’s actual real life grave in Glastonburg Abbey to pay respects to their fallen Saber… it makes me happy that her disappearing in the True End isn’t just an afterthought for them. If it is, what’s he doing at the Mage’s Association in London? I’m still not sure if this is a Shiki cameo. Imagine if their Prisma counterparts had catfights like this all the time. Thought it was all going to be fluff? Hah! Tohsaka and Luvia catfights are never fluff. Although, speaking of which, at the time when I watched the episode, the Luvia scenes got me pretty hyped for 2wei herz!, which aired a few weeks after my birthday (Silver Link knows I’m an Illyafag? Hrm). I mean, she’s in the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya anime, but I never liked how Silver Link drew the Fate characters’ eyes in comparison to the original manga by KALMIA. I honestly didn’t think I’d ever get to see Luvia animated by Ufotable until a Fate/Hollow Ataraxia adaptation became a thing, so it was a really great treat seeing her here. Granted, such an idea wouldn’t be the same without Illya or Saber. It also made me feel like I want Ufotable to team up with Nasu to create a Magic School spin-off of Fate. This entire episode was just that: a fun closure to the characters. ![]() He’s going to match Archer’s juggernaut height in no time. Although I miss the twintails, seeing Rin drop the tsundere attitude and being more honest about being a loving girl for Shirou overall makes come off as more mature, and it was neat seeing how tall Shirou got in such a short timeskip. It was great seeing Rin and Shirou grow up a bit. ![]() As a result, I think episode 25 in itself is worth watching for readers of the visual novel regardless if you think the rest of the show is a bad adaptation or not (I personally thought it was great, but it was certainly a bit shaky here and there). Instead of squeezing in the VN’s original epilogue at the end of the previous episode, Ufotable did a great thing by producing an entire extra episode with new material depicting what happens after the original route, alongside the remaining source material. Okay, so I’m back to wrap up the Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works post I started ages ago. This makes it the fourth time I’ve seen this shot
